Checked into hotel and down to City Gates to meet Diogo, our Hungry Whales guide for a Cultural & Food Tour of Ponta Delgada. Tired but we soldiered on to eat and drink for a few hours.
Explored the rugged coastline of São Miguel, Azores – where the Atlantic meets volcanic landscapes, creating stunning contrasts.
In this pool above, hot geothermal water from a sulphurous hot spring and cold water from the ocean mix. When it’s low tide you can enter the pool to enjoy a great water temperature. The spring itself is around 61 degrees and the ocean varies from 18 to 28 degrees, depending on the time of year. It was too rough for us to go in when we were there.
